Abstract

ABSTRACT
The increase in development and economy in the East Surabaya area has an impact on changes in air quality. Energy consumption from industrial and transportation activities produces air pollutant emissions. Gas emissions of SO2 and NO2 released into the atmosphere cause acid deposition. The content of acid gas in atmosphere when exposed with rain can cause acid rain. This study analyze the acid content of rainwater in the East Surabaya Region. Rainwater collection locations are on Dr. Ir. Soekarno Street, SIER Industrial Area, and Semolowaru Indah. Rainwater sampling is carried out in April 2018. Pollutant parameters tested were pH, nitrate (NO3-), and sulfate (SO42-). The measurement results show that the lowest pH of rainwater is in the SIER industrial area. Calculations using multiple linear regression models show that nitrate (NO3-) is more influential in reducing pH of rainwater than sulfate (SO42-).
